Three arrested during burial of ‘Nairobi Prettiest thug’

Police officers on Thursday (18/05/17) dramatically arrested three men during the burial of a female gangster identified as Claire Njoki Kibia alias ‘Nairobi Prettiest thug’.

The suspects identified as Samuel Kiboi, Amos Ngaire and a third man were ordered to lie down by the officers carrying pistols.

Kibia was laid to rest in Kambirwa Village in Murang’a county.

According to sources, only a few members of the notorious Kayole’s Gaza gang attended the burial of the teenage girl.

No one took photographs as the family was cautious of media presence.

Attendance of the ceremony was also low, with just a few friends from Nairobi, close relatives and neighbours present.

“Most of her friends were scared that they would be arrested if they showed up for the burial,” indicated a friend of the deceased.

“They only visited the City Mortuary (in Nairobi) in the morning.”

The ceremony was also brief, with few people willing to speak, among them the area assistant chief and Njoki’s grandmother.

Kibia was gunned down last week after failing to surrender to police officers trailing the gang she was a member.

Nairobi County Police Commander, Japheth Koome said last week that most of the notorious criminal gangs in Nairobi have female members.

These gangs include Gaza Boys of Kayole, Superpower Gang (Eastleigh), Brothers (City Centre), Usiku Sacco (Umoja), Msako Empire (Huruma), Jeshi la Embaa (Embakasi), Munyipi (Mathare), Kosovo Boys (Kosovo Area), among others.

“They are used for ferrying guns, gathering information and some who are brave even go for robberies,” Mr Koome said, adding that the women are also helpful for food deliveries when the male suspects are in hideouts.

He noted tha involvement of females in crime was posing a challenge to the security, as police officers are not allowed to search women’s handbags.

“We are however employing some strategies, which I will not divulge into, as they will jeopardize our operation,” Mr Koome added.
