The Sportpesa Premier League 2015 season has been a very lively one with the highlight being Gor Mahia’s unbeaten run. Some other notable performances include Muhoroni Youth’s momentous unbeaten 15 game run in the second half as well as Bandari’s second half resurgence. Below are a select team that have been chosen due to their stellar performances this season:

1. Boniface Oluoch- Goalkeeper, Gor Mahia Football Club

Few expected Boniface Oluoch to pip club legend Jerim Onyango to the top goalkeeping spot but even fewer expected him to be as good as he formed a vital part of the strongest defense in the league. He undisputedly claims the goalkeeper spot in our squad.

2. Abdullatif Omar- Left Fullback , Bandari Football Club

Omar has been a huge part of Bandari’s resurgence in the team as in the second half of the season the team became a joy to watch finishing in the top 8 despite having a bad first half of the league. Omar’s impressive performances earned him a call up for the Harambee Stars game against Mauritius.

3. Mohammed ‘Rio’ Hassan-Centre Back, Ulinzi Stars

Mohammed Hassan has without a doubt been one of the best defenders in the league and Ulinzi’s second place finish can be partly attributed to his resolute defensive performances. He has cemented his name in the hearts of Ulinzi stars fans and many expect another strong season from him.

4. Noah Abich- Full back / Centre Back ,Mathare United
The veteran defender has wowed audiences all over with his spectacular dead balls as his near perfect free kick and penalty accuracy has earned him an undisputed slot in our list. He also has the distinction of being the highest scoring defender in the league last season.

5. Karim Nizigyimana – Right Fullback ,Gor Mahia Football Club

The Burundian fullback has adapted splendidly to life in the SportsPesa Premier league as he has been a constant attacking threat down the flank and has also been conducting his defensive duties with much gusto.

6. Khalid Aucho – Midfielder , Gor Mahia Football club

The former Tusker man has been able to maximize his potential this season at Gor Mahia with his aggressive manner of play protecting his defenders and linking up with strikers alongside fellow central midfielder Collins Okoth ‘Gattuso’. He is a sure starter in this team.

7. Bernard Mangoli- Midfielder , AFC Leopards

Mangoli has been a bright light in a troubled AFC Leopards season as the midfielder showed his quality and persistence in the midst of all types of player scandals. His quality from set pieces is exceptional while his energy in midfield helped AFC Leopards when they had lethargic performances.

8. John Ndirangu- Midfielder , Top Fry Nakuru All Stars

Despite the fact that Top Fry Nakuru All Stars was relegated they discovered a deadly talent in the form of attacking midfielder John Ndirangu who has been rapidly improving. His pace, good passing and accuracy is unlikely to allow him to be relegated with the Nakuru side as other huge Sportpesa premier League clubs are monitoring him closely.

9. John Makwatta- Forward, Ulinzi Stars

Makwatta was Ulinzi’s top scorer this past season with 14 goals as he showed his class in front of goal. His goals and energy played a vital part in Ulinzi’s second place finish in the league.

10. Michael ‘Engineer’ Olunga- Forward, Gor Mahia

Michael Olunga has been the poster boy of Kenyan football this season with some crucial goals for Gor Mahia in their unbeaten run. He finished the league with 19 goals with only Jesse Were finishing above him. He has also been doing good with the national team and has been linked to a possible move to South Africa.

11. Jesse Were – Forward, Tusker

Were has been sensational for Tusker this season bagging an impressive tally of 22 goals to cap off his season despite a lethargic performance from Tusker in the second half of the season. His competition with Michael Olunga for the golden boot was so thrilling and congratulations to him for coming out tops.
