Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General has on Sunday urged the Opposition leader, Raila Odinga, to get ready for the repeat presidential election slated for October 26.
Francis Atwoli, asked the former Prime Minister to stop issuing threats that there will be no poll.
He pointed out that the National Super Alliance (NASA) should stop living in denial that he was not consulted on the date announced by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to conduct the fresh process.
The COTU boss further urged Raila to campaign across the country before the showdown between him and Jubilee Party’s, President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“Raila should be ready for the elections any day, he should stop living in denial that he was not consulted on the date for the repeat election. He should equip himself by campaigning across the country,” stressed Atwoli.
President Uhuru said last week that the Opposition leader cannot continue holding Kenya hostage with unending conditions over how the repeat poll should be carried out.
IEBC changed the repeat election date from October 17 to October 26 on Thursday.
The electoral body in a Twitter post, indicated that the change was made to ensure the new poll conforms to the law and election regulations as ordered by the Supreme Court.
“There is no doubt that the judgment impacts the election operations and in particular technology to be deployed,” IEBC stated.
