National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga has said that the fact that Kenya has produced presidents from two communities makes majority of Kenyans feel excluded.
He said that the issues affecting Kenya must be addressed immediately to save the country.
“When you start hearing people talking about secession, of wanting out of project Kenya, it means there is something wrong. Unless the issues are addressed, they will tear the country apart,” said Raila.
Raila hit out at President-elect Uhuru Kenyatta saying the rise of Jubilee dictatorship is a bigger plan to retain power to at least 2032.
“All of this progress is been imperiled by our current crisis triggered by the third straight rigged elections. The regime wants to hold on to power… let me be blunt, Kenya is hurtling towards an outright dictatorship, the Jubilee Government has looted every institution in order to achieve goal of long-term control of the state to at least 2032,” he said.
The Opposition chief pointed out that polls in Kenya are held like rituals, institutions such as the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and the Supreme Court have been targeted by the current regime after the annulment of August 8 General Election.
“What I call the reign of terror against the Supreme Court and the electoral commission began with the torture and murder of Chris Msando, the Commission’s Chief of Technology responsible for the integrity of the entire voting system one week before the 8th August election. He had received death threats and sought protection from the police, in vain.
“The Supreme Court ruling that annulled the August 8 election that was marred with irregularities and illegalities was historic but the judges have been so far threatened,“ the NASA leader stated.
The former Prime Minister shared his sentiments at the Center for Strategic and International Studies Headquarters in Washington DC on Thursday (9/11/17).
