Premier League superstar Victor Wanyama honours fan’s plea after Ethiopia match

Tottenham Hotspur’s midfielder Victor Wanyama has honoured a fan’s plea by gifting him his national team jersey.

Wanyama gifted Kenyatta University student Kelvin Kirwa his number 12 jersey after the learner posted a photo requesting for the jersey prior to the mouth-watering clash.

The Harambee Stars captain, who scored from a penalty spot after fellow team player Eric Omondi was brought down in the box, was substituted late in the second half after picking what is believed to be a hamstring injury.

The captain was instrumental in the midfield role during the second leg match as he helped the team maintain possession.

Japan-based striker Michael Olunga alias ‘Engineer’ broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute with a well taken volley from the right-flank after he was set up by Erick Omondi, who then got his name on the scoresheet five minutes later with a sensational goal from the edge of the box. Wanyama made it 3-0 in the 67th minute.

The former AFC Leopards player had sat out the second game against Ghana due to an injury he had sustained while playing for his club.

A loss at the hands of Sierra Leone last year had placed Kenya at a difficult place heading into the Ghana game.
