AFC Leopards stretch their unbeaten run against Gor Mahia to 3 games as they played out an entertaining 1-1 draw at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi on Sunday. Both teams entered the tie unbeaten in the league though Gor Mahia had won all of their previous games urging on their tenacious and overly passionate fans.
But contrary to expectations, AFC Leopards started the better side as they tested Gor’s goalkeeper Boniface Oluoch constantly from the offset. However, Gor grew into the game as Ali Abondo continued his fine scoring form as he opened the scoring in the 34th minute after drilling a shot past AFC goalkeeper Wycliffe Kasaya.
The second half saw a desperate display from AFC Leopards to get back into the game as their powerful forwards Jacob Keli, Emmanuel Ngama and Austin Ikenna all went close but were stopped by Boniface Oluoch who was in sparkling form. Eventually, Jacob Keli scored the breakthrough goal after Boniface Oluoch parried away an effort from Emmanuel Ngama into the path of the 2013 KPL Player of the year who made it 1-1.However, there was a scuffle between several players immediately after the goal that threatened to turn ugly but ended as Emmanuel Ngama was booked. Both teams made late attempts to win but the game eventually ended in a stalemate. Gor stayed at the top of the league with 13 points while Ingwe have 9 points in 7th place.
