Leaders ask Kenyans to sympathise with family of late Nyeri governor Gakuru

Leaders from across the country have eulogised the late Nyeri Governor Wahome Gakuru who died in a tragic road accident at Kabati along Thika- Murang’a Road on Tuesday (7/11/17) morning.

Members of Parliament (MP) asked Kenyans on social media to sympathise with the family and allow them time to grieve.

According to a local daily, Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua recounted his family’s experience with netizens while his elder brother and former Nyeri Governor the late Nderitu Gachagua was ailing.

“These social media people, when my late brother was ill for a year they killed him a record nine times before he finally succumbed to cancer. I would like to ask them to appreciate public figures also have families. They have children, sisters, wives and relatives.

“As we wait to bury Gakuru let me ask the social media to allow the family to bury him in peace without bringing a lot of other issues, speculation, malice and a lot of things that are unnecessary,” said Gachagua.

Majority Leader Aden Duale and Deputy Minority Whip Chris Wamalwa described the late as a committed, visionary and tireless leader.

“As it is said in the Scripture, we plan but the plan of the Almighty God supersedes.” Duale said.

“I have lost a great friend. It’s very unfortunate for the people of Nyeri, just the other day they lost Governor Nderitu Gachagua and today we are seeing Dr Wahome gone. Ours is to pray for the Nyeri people that The Almighty God gives you strength and comfort,” Wamalwa stated.

The governor’s Mercedes E250 rammed into a guardrail, which pierced through it on the side the governor was seated on.

He was impaled by the guardrail which had gone through his abdomen.
