NTV news anchor cum reporter Larry Madowo has terminated his contract with the Daily Nation.
Larry, will no longer be writing the FrontRow column, that has been published by the newspaper almost four years since it took effect.
“On Thursday, I terminated my contract to write the #FrontRow column in the @dailynation. It was an honour & I’m grateful to the paper for the page since August 2014,” Larry conveyed the message to his followers via Twitter.
The SideBar host has in recent weeks been in a sour relationship with the Government for criticising it over the media shutdown following the live coverage of Opposition leader Raila Odinga’s ‘swearing-in’ on January 30.
The High Court last week extended orders barring his (Larry) arrest alongside Nation Media Group Managing Editor Linus Kaikai and NTV’s Ken Mijungu.
Judge Luka Kimaru highlighted that the three journalists need protection of the court because they are living in fear of being arrested and, therefore, extended the Sh100,000 anticipatory bail he had earlier granted them on February 2.
Larry has not been cowed to criticise the Jubilee Government as he last week penned an article on the Washington Post .
The opinion piece; Kenya is sliding into a dictatorship, highlighted the recent occurrences in the country after Raila’s ‘oath’, terming them ‘alien’.
The journalist who is hated and loved in equal measure, revealed on Friday that the daily had refused to publish his piece but Cable News Network (CNN) did on February 9.
The rejected piece was titled ‘Why it’s a perilous time to be a journalist in Kenya.’ Larry talked about the media shutdown and Government’s reaction over Raila’s swearing-in.
