The wiper party principals have asked Cord leaders to give Kalonzo Musyoka support for presidency in the 2017 general elections. Wiper Democratic Movement treasurer who is also Nyali MP Awiti Bolo said, “CORD should support Kalonzo for Presidency as he is better placed to liberate the country from runway corruption.”
The Wiper leaders were speaking during the launch of a voter registration campaign in Mavoko Constituency’s Mlolongo. The campaign is seen as a blueprint to bolster the party’s chances of winning votes from the area.
The leaders urged Ukambani elected leaders to mobilize their supporters to take National Identification cards and also register as voters in preparation for the next general elections. Kalonzo himself however avoided mentioning his interests for the top seat as observed in the past and instead accused President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration of its failure to tame graft. “We have to register in large numbers to send this government home come 2017,” Kalonzo said.
The Wiper Democratic Party leaders affirmed that it was only through taking national Identification cards and registering as voters that the party would have a bargaining power in the coalition ahead of the next elections.
Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr also urged residents to register as voters in large numbers. “Kalonzo has been told he has no numbers because you have not registered as voters,” he said.
The former Vice President said that CORD may be forced to rally their supporters to Uhuru Park to demand an explanation from the government on the billions of shillings hat were lost according to the Auditor General’s reports.
In the past, Kalonzo Musyoka has been seen asking his fellow Principals to back him up in the general elections, asking Raila Odinga to return the favour he gave him, by standing down in 2007 and giving Raila Odinga support to run for Presidency.
