Manchester united defender Jonny Evans has been handed a six match ban by the football association after being found guilty of a spitting incident. His Newcastle united counterpart Pappis Cisse has been handed a seven match ban after also being found guilty. This ban means Jonny Evans will be ruled out of United’s FA cup clash against arch rivals Arsenal on Monday night at Old Trafford.
A six mach ban is the standard suspension issued to a player found guilty of spitting. Newcastle’s striker Cisse will serve a seven match ban due to a previous charge of violent misconduct.
The pair came face-to-face during Manchester United’s 1-0 win at St. James Park on Wednesday night, with Evans appearing to spit at Cisse who spit back. Cisse pleaded guilty and has since issued an apology to Evans who still maintains his innocence.
