Former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar has vowed to defend the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) CEO Ezra Chiloba against NASA ahead of the repeat presidential poll slated for October 26.
Mr Omar declared on Sunday that the National Super Alliance (NASA) was unfair in pushing for removal of Chiloba without any evidence that he bungled the August 8 General Election.
Omar asked the IEBC CEO to ignore any calls for his resignation by the Opposition and continue with his job at the commission.
“I am ready to defend this young man because the Supreme Court found no culpability on any of the IEBC officials. You cannot support or respect one side of the decision and not the other,” Omar pointed out.
The former Wiper Party Secretary General, however, urged Chiloba to conduct the fresh presidential poll in a free, fair and credible manner.
Omar also indicated that he will support President Uhuru kenyatta’s come election day against the National Super Alliance presidential candidate.
Omar said that there is no way Opposition leader Raila Odinga can can be President and at the same time have Joho as Mombasa governor, adding that the combination would be disastrous.
He questioned how the former Prime Minister would lead the country, when he supported Joho, who has mismanaged the county.
“We cannot have Raila as President and Joho as governor. We must do everything change the direction of the country, ” Omar said.
Omar spoke as he joined President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto and other Jubilee leaders in a campaign rally at Serani Grounds, Mombasa County.
