The Chief Government Pathologist has revealed that Christopher Msando, the slain Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) ICT manager was strangled to death.
“He died from strangulation and he also had incisions on his right arm, but the rest of the body was intact,” Johansen Oduor said after conducting a post-mortem examination on Wednesday (2/8/17).
The autopsy was carried out at Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi.
It was conducted between 12pm and 4pm, witnessed by a private pathologist and some of Mr Msando’s relatives.
The Interior Principal Secretary, Dr Karanja Kibicho, cautioned the public not to speculate about the death of the slain IEBC official.
Speaking on Monday, Dr Kibicho said police should be left to do their job of investigating the ICT manager’s death.
“The body of the IEBC officer who was reported missing was found on Monday. That matter is with the detectives. It is unfair to start speculation that he had secrets,” Dr Kibicho said during a joint meeting with election observers, media owners, and officials of the Editors’ Guild at a Nairobi hotel.
The PS denied reports by the National Super Alliance (NASA) Presidential candidate Raila Odinga that the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) was involved in a plan to rig the elections.
The electoral agency official’s body was found at City Mortuary by family members on Monday.
There were several cuts on the head and hands and blood was oozing from the nose and ears.
Other reports indicated there were signs his hands had been tied up.
