Bobby Williamson names Kenya squad to face Mauritius in World Cup qualifier next month with the KPL top scorer as well as Kenya’s all-time top scorer the glaring misses on the list.

Talismanic Tusker and Harambee Stars striker Jesse Jackson Were has been dropped from the national team squad despite displaying amazing form and scoring 19 goals so far in the Kenya Premier League (KPL) this season.

The striker had been expected to join the Harambee Stars squad on the strength of his three hat tricks, but evidently Harambee Stars head coach Bobby Williamson had other ideas as he announced his squad on Monday for a World Cup qualifying match against Mauritius due to be played in late October.

Some notable omissions also made from the squad include the likes of striker Dennis Oliech, defender Lawrence Olum and defensive midfielder Collins Okoth ‘Gattuso’ who were heavily criticized by fans for their performances against Zambia in a 2-1 loss in the recent AFCON 2017 qualifier.

The defensive pairing of Jackson Saleh and Musa Mohammed who ply their trade for AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia respectively are also missing from the squad as well as Tusker winger Danson Kago. It remains to be seen whether the omissions will have an effect on team morale and performance.
