Ababu Namwamba Dares ODM Rivals to Oust Him

By Calvin Osiemo

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Mr. Ababu Namwamba has given a stern warning to those who are planning to oust him from his party position. The Budalang’i Member of Parliament however declined to name the individuals he was referring to but said they should be prepared for hard times to come because he did not get the position in an easy way.

“I earned the seat through hard work. If you think you can take it away, then try it. We are not visitors in ODM. We are majority shareholders. Don’t think you can treat us as if we are guests. This is our party and we are not going anywhere. We are in ODM to stay,” said Namwamba.

Ababu has in the recent past been labeled a Jubilee mole within the ODM party but has dismiss these claims. This comes after he accompanied Western Kenya MPs to Statehouse on June 22nd and defended the visit saying that it was not politically motivated.

“The meeting was absolutely not about politics. The agenda was very clear, to find an economic renaissance of Western Kenya. The meeting was not about Cord or Jubilee but about the economic well-being of the people,” said Namwamba.

Speaking in his constituency at Mundere Primary school during the official opening of two classrooms accompanied by Slovakian Ambassador to Kenya Michal Mlynar, Ababu said it is not wrong to work with other leaders in other parties. He said that his involvement with Jubilee is because it is the government of the day which is mandated to distribute resources to all Kenyans regardless of political boundaries

“It doesn’t mean that when you are in ODM you are not supposed to cooperate with leaders in other political parties. Opposition leader Raila Odinga embraced President Uhuru Kenyatta when they met in a function in Kisumu. Does it mean that he is also a mole in ODM? If that is the case, then everybody in ODM is a mole. Let the world know that I have invited President Uhuru next month to come to Budalang’i and lay the foundation stone for the construction of Sigiri Bridge which claimed nine lives last year. If serving my people is giving you sleepless nights, then you shall never sleep because whatever you say I will not stop serving my people,” said Namwamba.
